Spring Appreciation Event a Huge Success Thanks to Over 800
Educators.
Year of the Teacher Committee says,
"Let's
do it again!"
Thank you
to the 800
plus elementary and secondary educators in the greater
New Orleans area who gathered at the Pontchartrain
Center on April 23, 2008 as our special 'guests of
honor' for the first ever, region-wide “Teacher
Appreciation Celebration.” Thank you
indeed, for your hard work and commitment to our
children.
This was truly a unique endeavor and
required the support of many people to make
it possible. First, we have to thank
our wonderful business community. As
sponsors,
they were responsible for providing the
nearly $50,000 in funding necessary to make
it happen. We also need to thank the
“Year of the Teacher Committee Members” and
35 volunteers responsible for ensuring the
evening flowed smoothly for our special
guests. We could not have served up such a
wonderful program without their help.
The contributions of our sponsors and work
of our volunteers clearly demonstrate that
many in our community believe teachers
deserve our appreciation.
Academic Year 2008 - 2009
declared
Year of the
Teacher
Reading of the proclamation took
place at
Xavier University on March 28,
2008
It was all smiles that
evening. The food was great,
the music was fantastic and
the atmosphere was
wonderfully relaxing.
The event was a huge
success. And, based on
your feedback, we know you
enjoyed attending as much as
we enjoyed putting it
together.
So, we're not done yet! The
Year of the Teacher Team in
partnership with Xavier
University has started
planning a fall
teacher appreciation event. Look for
notices (forthcoming) via your e-mail address. If you would like to
update or provide new contact info, please feel free to
do so here. You can also check this Web site
periodically for the latest information and for a
list of the sponsors who
are helping to make it happen. In fact, it would
be great to drop them a note to say thank you as well.
